There was a pirate ship out at sea.  Another pirate ship was approaching
to do battle.  The Captain emerged from the lower deck and said to his
first mate: "Get my red jacket."  The first mate retrieved the red jacket
and the Captain put it on. 

They fought the battle and won.  The next day, another pirate ship
approached to do battle.  The captain
emerged from the lower deck and said to his first mate: "Get my red
jacket."  The first mate retrieved the red jacket and the Captain put it
on.  They fought the battle and won.

After the battle, the first mate questioned the captain:  "Captain, why
must you always wear this red jacket at battle?" 

The captain responded: "If I am shot in battle, the blood will not show,
and therefore my crew will continue the fight without hesitating for me."
 
 "How admirable,"  the first mate responded.  The next day, TEN pirate
ships approached to do battle.  The captain emerged from the lower deck and
said to his first mate: "Get my brown pants."
